    Pros +

    • Very helpful staff, convenient location, and good prices. Room decor was a plus.
    • Location is fantastic. Right next to primary train station. Breakfast did not meet our expectations.
    • Nice rooms but a bit on the small size (true to pictures). Staff was friendly and helpful. They have a public bath with water from a source (can't remember where) which was a nice touch and definitely enjoyed by Japanese people. There are laundry facilities which are relatively well priced.

    Cons -

    • The air quality in the rooms was a bit rough
    • Breakfast did not meet our expectations. Compared to other breakfasts we had previous at other APA hotels as well other hotels across Japan, this was by far the worst breakfast thus far. Selection was poor. Soup that is suppose to be hot was cold. Also, The kitchen staff would clean and wipe tables next to us with spray cleaner even though the dining room was virtually empty. Staff not so welcoming and friendly.
    • The hotel is conveniently located near the Takaoka station, however, the train between Shin-Takaoka where the shinkansen actually stop and Takaoka is not very regular so you may want to consider your arrival and departure time.

This was one of the worst hotels we stayed in during our three week road trip mostly due to the location we were on one of the higher floors but the noise from the train station between trains and announcements went all night and we had hardly any sleep during our stay it was so noisy.

    6StevenPosted on: 2-28-2025

It is really close to the train station. It has an “onsen” with “outdoor” bath (which is a room with big windows. Very friendly staffs.

The sound insulation has a lot to be desired. We stayed at the 9th floor and still could hear the train and bus noise loud and clear throughout the night.

There are konbini, bus stop, and tram stop nearby. Microwave is available. Even though the room is small (typical japanese hotel for 6,000-7,000 yen), but I could fully open 1 medium sized luggage. Small space to hang clothes. Acceptable bathroom size. The bathtub size is bigger than I thought. The location, it's actually walkable from Takaoka eki, but since we travel in snow, it's quite hard to walk and opted for public transportation.

Near the station. The staff are really helpful. My night bus is at 10pm, and I have to stay in the hotel lobby until 9:30 and I need to charge my phone.Since there were no free outlets, the staff helped me by unplugging the desk lamp so I could charge my phone.

Well-furnished room. The hotel looks really upscale inside. The hotel's onsen was spacious and enjoyable. Excellent location next to the train station. Overall, a very pleasurable stay.

Only one microwave in the hotel, on the ground floor (not so practical for someone who buys food at nearby convenience stores).

    Location

My room number 316 was completely different from the photos. It is a lot smaller. Also, it's located right near the railroad tracks. The noise insulation is almost absent and I heard in detail all the cargo trains passing every few minutes at night time. The AC was not working and despite I configured it to 26 degrees Celsius, it was 50% of the time heating, 50% cooling. So I kept waking up at night either because it's too hot, or because it's too cold. The building is new but they still don't know that tall people exist and they need to shave their beards. I was unable to see my head in the bathroom mirror and I had to do some yoga to shave. I advise avoiding this hotel and paying more but getting much better quality.

Spotless as I would expect of an APA. Provided me with a plug converter to use North American electronics where the cord has a ground prong. Nice to have an onsen on site.

The trains run just outside and the noise could bother some people.

Convenient location. Good solution for overnight stay

Rooms were very small. Breakfast was basic. But appropriate price for what you get

    5MariPosted on: 4-16-2024

    Nice public bath.

Very noisy. You could hear the trains and train station all morning and evening

    4MirzaPosted on: 2-14-2024

    good location

Not worth paying the price. The room and toilet are not clean even the amenities are incomplete. And when we ask for new a bath towel you have to get it on your own ?‍♀️down to the 1st floor.

    Location

The two parking were full. They gave us a map to park 3rd one. We went there but we parked the next place which wasn’t clear on the map. We had to pay a lot for the parking for no reason. Also the room couldn’t be smaller. One of the bathing towel was dirty. They would probably change if we asked

Lovely location, onsens were the best - there are 3 private onsens, and 1 public onsen (indoor and outdoor) - all with great views! I saw the full moon and sky full of stars when I was there. Free ramen for supper at night was a bonus. All in all, very good price point.

    Nothing!

    8RitaPosted on: 1-1-2024

The hotel is in a very convenient location beside the train station and close to shops/restaurants. We loved having the Onsen in the hotel and it was not crowded during our 4 day stay.

We already knew that the room size would be small, so I'm not saying that I didn't like it but if there was anything to improve on in the hotel it would be to have more space in the room. Having said that I do appreciate that we were getting very good value for money at this hotel so the room size was a good compromise for that. :-)

    7FlorencePosted on: 11-28-2023

Not very comfortable as the rooms were warm in the night.

It's the first time I hear the hotel has a heating system that controls all the rooms. That is during our visit in Nov, there's no air condition and we cannot control from our room. The hotel turns on the heating system in the evening for all the rooms. At the end, the staff sent us a blower, which is not of much help, it only cools the room slightly.

Good location close to the station, APA Hotels are comfortable and nice. The attention was good as well. This Location in particular has an Onsen type of bath on the second floor, which sounds amazing, sadly I couldn't try it this one time, but it was one of the reasons I booked it in the first place. I had an amazing view from my window. Note that you'll hear the train and the announcement of the station, I'm very sensitive to noise, but this didn't make me uncomfortable in the slightest being on the 10th Floor. I would recommend this APA hotel!

There were some white stains on the decoration cloth that is on top of the bed. Beside that nothing else I can complain of

    9GarthPosted on: 10-29-2023

Close proximity to the train station and sign posted from there.Close proximity to all of the sites.Very comfortable and friendly.

    Nothing to dislike

    9GarthPosted on: 10-25-2023

All facilities good. Plenty of room for luggage under the bed.Has it's own Onsen.Near to the bus and train station.

    Nothing to dislike.
